Morrigan Aensland, the Queen of the Night from Darkstalkers.

Arcueid Brunestud, the Moon Princess from Tsukihime.

The bloodline of a royal family is a special one. It means that every successor is destined for greatness, as well as a massive responsibility to uphold, whether human or supernatural. But for these two, they care not for such massive undertakings and are more interested in the pleasures their worlds have to offer.

However, should the situation call for it, these two powerful beings of royalty are more than ready to combat the most threatening of evils in the name of their families. When these two all-powerful demonic heroines clash, only one of them will be left standing in a DEATH BATTLE!

Before we begin

For Morrigan, most Darkstalkers related material will be focused on here. Games, manga, the UDON comics, anthology comics, guidebooks, the OVA, and yes, even the American cartoon.

For Arcueid, the original Tsukihime and Melty Blood (VN, manga and games) will be the version of Arcueid focused on here, with works related to its continuity included. Tsukihime Remake won’t be focused here, and works related to it will only be used to support implications established in the former works.

Credit to Ashconwell7 and the other users of the Darkstalkers subreddit for compiling the series manga into one drive. You were a major asset to this blog’s production!

Background

Morrigan

“I sense a strong power gathering. Looks like tonight won't be so boring after all!”

Tales of mythological monsters and demons are as old as time, whether it be the classic stories of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or Bram Stoker’s Dracula, tales like these exist to give readers a good scare or a gripping story. But what if those monsters were real? That is where the demon realm of Makai comes in, a realm that is home to powerful beings known as Darkstalkers. This realm is ruled by several noble clans, one of its most notable being the Aensland noble family, led by Belial Aensland, who was considered to be the ruler of Makai. But every family needs a line of successors, and naturally the next head of the Aensland family would be Belial’s own daughter, the Succubus Queen herself, Morrigan Aensland.

Born in 1678, Morrigan was raised by Belial as his foster daughter. But when she was a baby, Belial sensed extraordinary power within her, so much so that he feared her potential. Belial feared that Morrigan wouldn’t be able to control an overwhelming amount of power and that it would lead to the destruction of Makai. So Belial split Morrigan’s powerful soul into three pieces, one for himself, one that would remain with Morrigan, and the last 1/3rd was sealed away in an unspecified pocket dimension.

Growing up over the course of 300 years, Morrigan found life in the Aensland castle to be incredibly boring, something that a succubus like her wouldn’t tolerate. She needed some thrill and pleasure in her life, so she would visit the human world from time to time to entertain herself. This naturally led to some scuffles, including against Demitri Maximoff, a vampire who sought to claim the throne of Makai. This would be the start of their rivalry over the throne of Makai. At some point, Morrigan would come into contact with the alien known as Pyron, though it’s unclear how much involvement she had against him.

Later on after a venture of pleasure in the human world, Morrigan would return home to learn that her father, Belial, had sadly passed away. This meant that a third of her soul had returned to her after Belial’s death and that she was next in line to rule the Aensland family. Despite the great responsibility entrusted to Morrigan as being the ruler of the most powerful noble family in Makai, she didn’t care. All she cared about were the pleasures of the human world that she would continue to indulge in.

That is until the demon, Jedah Domah, came to Makai and pulled Morrigan and her castle into a realm he created known as the Majigen. Jedah had a rather spiteful hatred against Belial and believed him unfit as ruler of Makai. This hatred naturally extended to his successor, vowing to destroy Makai and absorb the souls of all the Darkstalkers into a singular being. But Jedah knew of how powerful Morrigan was and he needed someone by his side that could rival her in power.

This is where the last third of Morrigan’s soul comes in, which had become its own being known as Lilith. Now having her own body thanks to Jedah, Lilith would lure Morrigan in after Morrigan sensed her and the two would confront each other, with Morrigan coming out on top as the victor and regaining the final part of her soul. With Morrigan now at her full power, she would confront Jedah, who wanted all of her power for himself. But unfortunately for Jedah, he was no match for the Succubus Queen and he would be defeated by Morrigan, foiling his plans once and for all.

Now with her full power, Morrigan returned to Makai to rule as its rightful queen. Even though she has now fully accepted her responsibility as the ruler of the Aensland noble family, Morrigan continues to find entertainment in both the human and demon worlds. Whether it be in fights against her fellow Darkstalkers or finding excitement in playing around with one's dreams, Morrigan Aensland never turns down something she finds pleasure in.

Arcueid

“This is my world. Although it can only exist for one night like yours, there is no world I cannot make.”

Hovering far above the sky, the celestial visage of the moon may leave many impressions. Some might find it beautiful, others may be consumed in fear and others might have curiosity to one day reach it, but to the planet Gaia it saw a savior when mankind began to endanger earth’s nature. Such was the case with the arrival of the originary vampire, Brunestud of the Crimson Moon. Seeking to establish a defense from mankind to keep the planet in check Gaia formed a contract with Brunestud to create the True Ancestors; a race of immortal spirits of nature copied from the Crimson Moon that would mediate the planet. With the expectation that they would return the planet’s nature to its former state and keep humanity in check. Many had been created since then for various purposes, but none among the existing Ancestors met the qualifications for becoming a suitable king to rule the planet. This would change by the 12th century, as a candidate would eventually rise up and shake the earth’s foundations to its very core: the White Princess of the True Ancestors, Arcueid Brunestud.

Born between a joint effort to mold the strongest Ancestor, Arcueid from birth had already far surpassed her creators having even obtained the privilege of being the Earth’s brain and the world’s mouthpiece. This led to Arcueid becoming their princess, and even being granted the honorary title of Brunestud, something granted to those who came close to the Crimson Moon in power and purity. However, by the time Arcueid was born much of the pure True Ancestor population had dropped and many had fallen to their impulses due to inheriting the impulse from the Crimson Moon, leading to the same Fallen Ancestors to start drinking human blood indiscriminately and in turn creating the Dead Apostles, a sub-set of humans turned into vampires. Plunging the world into a wave of bloodsuckers. Naturally, the Ancestors saw a fitting use in Arcueid for her power, and they sent her to pursue their fallen kin as their personal vampire hunter.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and murder for Arcueid, during this period the Ancestors shunned Arcueid for her strength and raised her to be nothing more than the ultimate vampire killer. In their eyes, a weapon needed no way to function other than to simply kill, so they removed anything deemed unnecessary. From her knowledge gained from slaying vampires to her emotions, even the simple joy of living had been denied from her. Ironically, the only form of support she received was from Kischur Zelretch, a former enemy of the Crimson Moon. The old mage smiled, and told the princess that in a long time she might learn to smile once she enjoys life.

This would come back to bite them quite badly, as one night a priest seeking to continue his thesis on immortality named Michael Roa Valdamjong tricked the naive princess into drinking his blood. Converting Roa into a Dead Apostle with the power of an Ancestor after he absorbed some of her power, resulting in the demise of the Ancestors as Roa and a berserk Arcueid who fell into her impulses killed every last one remaining. Now all alone as the last remaining ancestor, Arcueid felt guilty and chained herself in her castle until she gained enough power to hold her impulses. Sometime later after she woke up, Arcueid set out to get revenge on Roa by forming a truce with the Church as well as recover her power, and with their combined efforts they defeated Roa once and for all!

….or not, turns out that Roa was a lot tougher to put down than your average vamp and had learned how to reincarnate his soul on different bodies. So over the ages, Arcueid had to wake up and adapt to the different customs of each era Roa reincarnated in, always killing him but never getting back the power and revenge she desperately craved. Always learning new things but never experiencing them. This never ending cycle would continue to the end of the 20th century in Japan, where Arcueid’s search and purpose as a vampire killing weapon would abruptly be paused on a fateful encounter with a plain looking boy named Shiki Tohno. And by faithful encounter, I mean he stalked her to her apartment and SLICED HER to seventeen pieces with a knife... Yeah... Certainly a normal way to meet a girl for the first time.

The effect this left on Arcueid weakened her to such a point she couldn’t regenerate any existing parts, so she remade her whole body from scratch and pursued her killer with an anger like no other. But after their cat-and-mouse chase was over, Arcueid wondered if it was really right to kill him; almost as if something had broken in her since that death. And this wasn’t some random high-schooler, Shiki Tohno had special eyes that allowed him to perceive and cut the death in anything: The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. A powerful ability that could even kill vampires like her or the Dead Apostles regardless of how durable or immortal they were, so she asked him to be her human sh- i mean body guard for the next few days, with Tohno eventually joining Arcueid in her search Roa as he couldn’t simply let his city become a den of zombies, and having proven to be quite a capable fighter at Arcueid’s side given he effortlessly dismantled her before.

During this period of time, the two would grow closer as they worked alongside each other to hunt down Roa, with her blatantly showing care for him even back then as she checks up on him one time Shiki couldn’t fulfill his promise to meet up. And then after one bloody fateful night in a hotel, the two would encounter one of the strongest Dead Apostles, Nrvnqsr (pronounced Nero) Chaos. The 2 would plan around their strengths and weaknesses to take them down and narrowly succeed both barely escaping death. After this, Arcueid went out of her way to tell her succubus cat Len to give her “meat shield”... a wet dream.

It was from this moment on, that this care for Shiki would bloom into love for him, as the 2 would not just engage in countless activities that seemed pointless to her like watching a movie on a date, but whenever he would always offer to help Arcueid to find Roa, she would constantly discourage him from doing so believing he had done enough and would constantly check up on his well being. At points, their relationship would become strained from situations where they almost lose control, with Shiki’s unstable mind almost making him rape Arcueid and the latter’s vampiric impulses making her almost suck the former’s blood. But the constant here is their love for each other stopped them from crossing those lines, especially Arcueid where she didn’t want Shiki -the person she loves- to see her as a monster just like almost everyone she used to be with did. Eventually, the 2 would declare their love for one another and… get busy and sleep together.

The next day, Arcueid, still not wanting Shiki to be involved, leaves him to find and finally confront Roa once and for all. After a bitter re-encounter, Arcueid kicks Roa around like nothing despite being so weakened, but the latter notices she’s no longer the ruthless princess she once was. This causes Roa to disparage her at every turn in their encounter. After a bit, Shiki appears to try and help Arcueid take down Roa, but Arcueid restrains him to keep him out of danger and proceeds to use Marble Phantasm to kill Roa right then and there. Unfortunately, she didn’t completely obliterate him, and from having no energy left, she was now at death’s door, with Roa promptly regenerating and slicing her “lines of life”. After what seemed like an emotional final goodbye -with Shiki kissing Arcueid and her dying again-, Shiki kills Roa for good, destroying his soul with his eyes.

Some time after this, Shiki finds himself in his classroom in the afternoon trying to fulfill what was a “pointless promise” of a date with Arcueid. But miraculously, she appears before him. However, it wasn’t to go out on a date with him, but for a true final goodbye. She couldn’t control her impulses anymore and she didn’t want to tarnish what she loved. As such, after telling him to live the way he does and that she’ll dream of him in her sleep, she leaves Shiki’s life for good.

…Until she didn’t in every other ending of her route in the VN, the Manga, Kagetsu Tohya and Melty Blood where she is still in Shiki’s life, not just living this new wonderful life of doing pointless things but also save humanity from threats like Night of Wallachia, Dust of Osiris and even Archetype:Earth, the last one essentially being a side of her as the Earth’s mouthpiece who also is a remnant of the Crimson Moon manifesting as a side of her. They all had the point for humanity not being eternal, rendering their struggle being pointless. But ultimately, Arcueid stopped them. For not only does this Funny Vamp believe it is the right thing to do to save her loved ones, but she also believes and even chooses to dream of being human and more importantly for a better future for humanity.

Experience, Intelligence, and Skill

Morrigan

Having been around since 1678, Morrigan’s shown to be a surprisingly capable fighter for someone who spends most of her time searching for fun. She’s battled Demitri across multiple continuities and usually emerged the victor, and it’s implied in the games she’s annoyed at how often he fights her. Their fight in Darkstalkers 3 is said by the narration to be known as “The Great War of the Demon World.” In Darkstalkers/Red Earth: Maleficarum, it’s said they’ve fought multiple times in the past few decades, yet none of their fights end in them being mortally wounded.

Throughout various Darkstalkers media, she’s defeated many of its cast, including Felicia a bunch of times in two Vampire: The Night Warrior volumes, Huitzils across multiple continuities, and it’s the same for Hsien-Ko. Even Darkstalker hunters like Donovan and B.B Hood are shown to not be a match for her. While not bonded with Lilith, she could defeat Jedah and prevent him from destroying Makai with the Fetus of God.

The UDON comics depict her participating in a war in Makai at a young age and being able to contend with or defeat martial artists like Necalli and Chun-Li, at one point implying she’d be able to kill the latter by fighting seriously. This is despite Chun-Li having trained in Tai Chi since she was 5 and completing her training with Gen, mastering techniques that took him a lifetime just prior to their fight.

She’s patient enough to manipulate Demitri into fighting until he died from the sunrise, fooled Huitzil's targeting systems by breaking a pipe and filling the area with steam just to get an opening, and was able to trick Jedah and stab him in the back by disguising herself as Lilith.

Arcueid

Ever since her birth in the 12th century, Arcueid had been molded and taught by the ancestors to be the ultimate vampire killing weapon. Like a nuclear missile, once her target was determined she made sure to destroy it, whether it be Fallen Ancestor or Dead Apostle. However it's implied that this prior knowledge and experience has been frequently removed from her via mental suggestion by the Ancestors. In spite of that it never wore her ability down, as after the Ancestors died Arcueid has taken on requests to kill several vampires from the Church and teamed up with them to kill Roa, but he wasn’t quite down for the count so Arcueid over centuries repeated a cycle where she would wake up and repeatedly kill 17 incarnations of Roa for over 800 years. She has plenty of experience absorbing the knowledge of the eras she woke up to blend in with the populace at the time.

Unsurprisingly, as the strongest character in Tsukihime, Arcueid has overcome all sorts of supernatural threats, hunters, and magicians alike with her sheer physical might, despite having little to no training or experience in any martial arts. She tore apart an entire army of monsters and zombies while battling with her impulses, managed to give the Magic Gunner Aoko Aozaki her first loss (sort of) while they were holding back in their battle, fended off the shapeshifting vampire monster Nero Chaos and has consistently defeated Ciel, the Seventh ranked assassin of the Burial Agency; a religious sub-sect of monster hunters who are much stronger, skilled and crazier than your average vampire hunter from the Church, and Ciel herself excels in both magical and martial arts.

Now let’s be honest, Arcueid’s… kind of an airhead who lacks what we humans like to call “common sense.” But she’s more like a grandma who isn’t up with the times sometimes, and actually has plenty of knowledge about magical know-how. Being able to explain the physiology of vampires or familiars from how they act, feed or use their abilities is not something some joe schmo would know. And she actually has some pretty good foresight on certain events, like when she was able to notice Sion’s etherlite wire, which is microscopic, and even pretty quickly counter some of her traps... mostly. She was also the first in Misaki City to notice the Night of Wallachia, an event that manifests the fears and anxieties of others into physical reality and yet, being none the wiser, saw through any illusions created from it.

Equipment

Morrigan

Isis Ring

An item worn by those as proof of being the Master of the Aensland house. It allows Morrigan to create gateways to other dimensions of her choosing like the Majigen or Makai that only members of the Aensland family can pass through. Its effectiveness is admittedly dependent on places where the barriers between human and demon worlds are at their weakest.

Swords

In the cartoon, Morrigan could channel her energy into a solid shape to create swords. Though she isn’t particularly skilled at using them.

Arcueid

Nothing. Hands is where it's at 👊

Powers

Morrigan

Succubus Physiology

The Succubi are a tribe of female demons residing from the plane of Makai, seducing any men to fall to their charms just so they can consume their lifeforce. How they receive this nourishment is through various means, either through draining the life force/spirit of someone or through special secretion generated within the brain of a living once they dream that’s dissolved and synthetized to a Succubus’s body, with the victim in question experiencing a strange sensation as if they had something taken away from them. This allows them not only to survive but fuel many of their abilities and maintain their youth for a long while, up to 400 years in fact. Supposedly, this is why she kept being the SAME friggin sprite for 13 years.

However, the Succubus of House Aensland share a few notable differences. As unlike normal Succubus who became extinct they can produce their own special secretion liquid through…. “external and physical stimulation” to maintain themselves. But perhaps the biggest differences came from Morrigan herself. At an early age she killed many of her kin and already had enough power to be classified as an S+ Class Demon, enough to match some of the highest lifeforms in the universe. This gives her plenty of superhuman strength and speed to wreck most Darkstalkers, which she combines with her shapeshifting, razor sharp claws and hand-to-hand combat.

Understandably, Belial worried for his young foster daughter’s potential as he feared not only the safety of Makai but the possibility she would lose her mind and destroy herself under the lust of her own power if she wasn’t controlled. So he split three portions of her soul until the time was right for Morrigan to control it. One portion remained with Morrigan, while the second one was with Belial until his death. and the other last part became her own being Lilith. Which Morrigan later reunited and fused with, so while not to the same potential as before she is still crazy powerful to the many Darkstalkers given she can match S Class like Jedah. And seeing as Lilith is just a part of Morrigan’s power the two should reasonably be able to perform the abilities of the other.

Energy Manipulation

Morrigan can shape her soul to unleash various forms of energy attacks. Whether it be through her Soul Fist, small energy bolts, energy bats or large focused energy beams powerful enough to clear through a wave of Huitzils. Additionally, she can even use her energy for telekinesis.

Life Draining

Morrigan has the ability to drain the energy of a being with a kiss, regardless of their gender. Her kiss can either take energy away from someone, take their memories or drain them to the point they’re left a hollow husk of their former selves, so much so that their bodies are reduced to skeletons. But draining life force with a kiss isn’t mutually exclusive to Morrigan, as other sources state she has other ways of doing so, albeit unknown. Which we do see in crossover games like Marvel vs Capcom 3, where she applies this life stealing property into her Soul Fist.

As a self described connoisseur of souls. Morrigan has even claimed that she could take away the soul of someone, something that she has managed to do in one of her endings. She drains Pyron until he was all bones, and Pyron is described as an amorphous spiritual being purely composed of energy who typically can’t be hurt by others.

Shapeshifting & Bodily Weaponry

One of Morrigan’s primary abilities in combat is being able to change parts of her body or clothing by summoning bats at will for offense and defense. Not only can she change the size of her body parts but she can shapeshift her wings into anything she can imagine from blades, spikes, arm drills, a bow, a spiky lance, axes, claws, giant hands, whips, missiles, shields, laser cannons, tendrils to attack and protect herself and many many other weapons. Think of any weapon and she can make it. And should an enemy get too close for comfort, she can spread her body into bats to escape direct attacks, appear as her own shadow, and can use her wings in their natural form to fly or turn them into rocket engines.

Although perhaps her other greatest use of this is how she chooses to toy with her victims, she can get pretty devious with it. Morrigan can shift her form to her dark heart’s desire by appearing as a different person to blend right in any environment, usually using it to lure unsuspecting men like moths to a flame by appearing as an unassuming woman. She employs quite a few times in combat, like when Morrigan had her own clone be killed by Lilith when she disguised herself as Lilith’s boyfriend John Stateley, only to reveal that it was all an act after Lilith destroyed the clone, or the time she and Lilith switched forms to gain a fatal opening on Jedah, or that one time she fooled Rikuo by appearing as a curiously attractive fish!

Mind Control

Morrigan implies that she can turn her opponents into slaves of darkness with just a mere glance at her eyes, leaving them with no conscience. She can also put their souls through an unconscious dream-like coma. Any victim caught in this can’t help but live through a dream so pleasurable that their five senses are shut off, until all that is left for them to do is to simply die.

Hair Manipulation

Morrigan can extend her hair to jab her opponents or wrap around them.

Regeneration

If succubi like Morrigan and Lilith ever suffer fatal injuries, they can fall back on their regeneration to repair the damage. They can take being slashed by a scythe, stabbed with dozens of blood projectiles and even consistently shrug off impalement from monsters like Demitri or Jon Talbain. Most impressively of all though as seen above, Morrigan was once sliced in half by Donovan’s sword Dhylec and survived by spreading her body as bats, implying that in order to kill her you have to kill every bat at her command. Though this can be somewhat inconsistent, as she seemingly can still be killed by decapitation.

Teleportation

Both Morrigan and Lilith can teleport both into battle during their fight intros, something that they frequently use to escape fights or to travel across other dimensions. Lilith can even apply this teleportation into other people, as she can send them into other realms by “depositing” their souls on the Majigen. Though this last part may be metaphorical since this is more akin to body teleportation than soul based.

Elemental Manipulation

An exclusive ability to the Darkstalkers cartoon, Morrigan can manipulate the environmental elements around her to use against her opponent. Creating vines of plants to frequently restrain them or raise pillars from the grounds like an earthbender.

Dream Traversal

Having the ability to manipulate dreams, Morrigan is also able to enter them as well. While in a being's dreams, she is able to do harm to their dream self, and that harm will be felt to their real world selves.

Movelist

Soul Fist

Morrigan fires a bat shaped projectile to keep her opponents at a distance, in certain games this projectile is depicted as a much larger skull shaped projectile. This is implied to be a weaponized piece of her soul, and side material like the manhua show her firing multiple Soul Fists simultaneously.

Soul Drain

Morrigan can apply the life-draining effects of her magic into her projectiles, allowing her to take some of her opponent’s life force to add onto herself.

Shadow Blade

Transforms her wings into a rising blade that slashes the opponent.

Vector Drain

Transforms her wings into jet boosters and brings their opponent down with them, head first.

Shell Pierce

Turns her legs into a drill that can pierce through foes while they’re down on the ground.

Blessed Anguish

Grabs her opponent and throws them to the other side of the arena for a wall bounce.

Harmonious Spear

Ascends above their opponent and creates a portal made of bats that brings out a spear. Draining opponents of their power.

Finishing Shower

Morrigan’s signature super move, where she turns her wing into a weapon that can fire a barrage of missiles.

Valkyrie Turn

Morrigan’s second super move, where she goes past her opponent, disappears from the arena for a second and turns her legs into a drill to hit her opponent multiple times as she comes back.

Cryptic Needle

A super move where Morrigan reaches out and pierces her opponent with a needle to drain their energy and replenish her own.

Silhouette Blade

Morrigan summons Lilith to do a stronger version of Shining Blade with better range.

Soul Eraser

Morrigan creates a laser cannon and two other supporting ones, aims them at her opponent, and fires away, doing devastating amounts of damage.

Astral Vision

Morrigan projects an astral clone of herself to tag team on her opponents from two different sides.

Eternal Pleasure

One of her more suggestive super moves, Morrigan teams up with Lilith and throws a heart at her opponent that’s unblockable, the curtains close and…well you can use your imagination. Regardless of the implications, it does a devastating amount of damage.

Darkness Illusion

Morrigan turns her wings into a jetpack, once she connects with her opponent, whether it be with her astral clone or Lilith, Morrigan teams up with them to do a synchronous combo to beat down her opponent, ending with them in the air and Morrigan sending them back down to the ground, dealing a devastating amount of damage.

Lilith specific moves

Soul Flash

Throws out a small bat that goes a short distance, yet does a decent amount of damage.

Shining Blade

Similar to Morrigan’s Shadow Blade, she transforms her wings into a rising blade that slashes the opponent. Lilith can even do this multiple times in succession.

Merry Turn

Makes her wings sharp and spins around forward, slashing the opponent.

Mystic Arrow

A super move where Lilith grabs the opponent, summons a hand and a bow, then fires the opponent away like an arrow.

Toe Pierce

Steps on her opponent multiple times while they’re on the ground, piercing them with her toes.

Innocent Hug

Gives their opponent a hug and turns her wings into blades that cut through the opponent’s sides.

Childish Drop

An air grab where Lilith turns her wings into a pair of hands that slam the opponent down to the ground as they descend.

Splendor Love

Lilith’s clothing turns into a swarm of bats that surround her as she ascends upwards and does multiple hits to her opponents.

Luminous Illusion

Similar to Morrigan’s Darkness Illusion, Lilith creates an Astral version of herself to do synchronous damage to her opponent.

Gloomy Puppet Doll

Lilith puts her opponents into a rather comedic situation, where they have to do a dance on a stage. The damage of this move is dependent on how well Lilith follows the attack inputs shown during the dance. But if done perfectly, the opponent will be rained down lightning, fire and ice simultaneously.

Mindless Mimic Doll

Lilith creates an Astral Vision of herself that mimics her every move for double damage.

Mindless Mirror Doll

Similar to Morrigan’s Astral Vision super, Lilith creates a duplicate of herself from behind the opponent that mimics her every move.

Resistances

Support

Lilith Aensland

In Makai, the power of an individual is dictated by the strength of their own soul. So after Belial sealed away one of two thirds of Morrigan’s power, it began to develop sentience and eventually became a disembodied spirit who named herself Lilith. Although she spent 300 years watching Morrigan in loneliness, she eventually was found by one of the demon lords Jedah who saw a great value over her and Morrigan to enact his plan. So Jedah created a temporary body for Lilith that resembled Morrigan, tasking her to lead powerful souls into his Majigen.

Lilith would eventually cross paths with Morrigan and they fought, with Morrigan coming out on top as the victor, reuniting the final third of her soul with herself. But Morrigan still decided to help Lilith after years of loneliness, so she lets her remain independent. But when the situation calls for it, Lilith can fuse herself with Morrigan for a massive boost in power or tag team on an enemy for help.

While she’s functionally similar to Morrigan as the two do share the same power, Lilith does have her own uses here and there. She can transform debris to convert them into weapons, can manifest objects out of thin air, and seemingly has a preference to use bows as shown by the Lilith manga, creating massive energy arrows that can vaporize beings as powerful as the Fetus of god or Jedah, vaporizing him to the point of overcoming his regeneration.

Arcueid

True Ancestor Physiology

In the world of Tsukihime, Vampires are divided between two categories: the bloodsuckers of folklore who gave up their humanity known as the Dead Apostles, and the original vampires that predate them, the True Ancestors. In their truest essence, the Ancestors are elemental spirits of nature embodying the consciousness of the planet wielding enough strength to eclipse the Apostles in power, so they aren’t traditional vampires per say and don’t abide by the same weaknesses they do. They're virtually immune to the light of the sun and don't require blood to maintain their existence. All they really need is a constant use of their power to put up with the urges, at the cost of their impulse growing stronger as they live. This status as extensions of nature also makes them become even stronger under the light of a full moon, potentially even becoming limitless so long as their link with the earth stays.

Arcueid is no mere vampire, born out of a desire to create the strongest True Ancestor she was gifted with a supreme body and capabilities that put her far beyond her kin and could easily dispatch powerful vamps like the Dead Apostles or Fallen Ancestors. Such was her power that the capability of matching and even potentially surpassing the Crimson Moon in both scale and power wasn’t just a possibility, but an absolute fact. All of this in addition gives the funny vamp plenty of superhuman strength, reflexes and stamina to tire out most humans, whether it be by casually moving as fast as a blur and leap far enough to clear the distance between walls and buildings, or destroying buildings by simply just throwing other vampires. And just like any other vampire she can use her claws to slash through entire armies of monsters.

It should also be mentioned, throughout a majority of Tsukihime many of the feats performed by Arcueid was when she was left in a weakened state due to various factors (Roa absorbing some of her power when she turned him into a vampire, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception leaving a notable effect on her, etc.), it’s likely that Arcueid should upscale from these showings once she managed to recover some of her power after Roa’s death in the Good and True Ends. And even when weakened, she’s still noted to be extremely powerful by other characters like Ciel or Nero Chaos.

Shockwave Manipulation

With a single swing of her claws Arcueid can generate a variety of projectiles that leave plenty of destruction in their wake. Whether it be from shockwaves, ring shaped projectiles, rising geysers or a massive focused wave of energy.

Regeneration

Dubbed the “Curse of Restoration”, Arcueid possesses a specific method of regeneration that allows her to re-emerge from injuries caused by external damage. Rather than treating wounds outright, the curse instead restores one’s vessel back to their original state through time reversal. Anything from getting an arm crushed, skewered by dozens of blades, having their heart ripped out and crushed into paste, being burst into flames, or having their body sliced to seventeen pieces is basically no issue. Even if all that were to remain of her was just a head she can return, or potentially regenerate from having most of her body obliterated with only their ankles remaining; provided that the full moon is out to make her stronger.

Reactive Evolution

Described as an “antibody” in the original Japanese, Arcueid’s spiritual nature as a True Ancestor lets her increase her resistances toward magics, abilities and weapons she’s experienced more than once. So much so that repeated exposure can allow her to negate the damage as if nothing happened, this incredible adaptation has even let Arcueid gain resistances over entire thaumaturgical schools of magecraft like Runes or Kabbalah. With the only ones she hasn’t experienced being limited to the Ancient Shinto or the treasures of South America.

Some of the abilities she has directly resisted, is stated to resist or should resist should include:

Immortality

As the Ultimate One of the Earth, Arcueid and other Ultimate Ones are said to lack a concept of death due to their connection with the planet. This is even more notable during the night when Arcueid is at her peak, and even Mystic Eyes of Death users such as Shiki Tohno and Shiki Ryougi struggle to see death on her.

Mystic Eyes of Enchantment

Through eye contact, powerful vampires can impose their will into the brain of another and have dominion over their thoughts. This self suggestion can bind people to leave them restrained in place, order them around and erase their memories of certain events.

Fear Manipulation

When angered or left without any blood, Arcueid releases a ferocious aura that causes those around her to remain paralyzed and even seemingly outright cause hallucinations.

Portal Creation

With just a wave of her claws, Arcueid can open up portals to hop into other dimensions. This even allows her to exit realms that are considered impossible to escape from like the Moon Cell, something that not even Spiritron Hackers can even do normally.

Der Mond

Status effect that slowly heals Arcueid every turn.

Rail Zeppelin

Status effect where Arcueid can briefly stun her opponent with her claws.

Gnaden Sturz

Arcueid leaps into the air as she forms a pose resembling that of a golden half moon, before clawing her foe down. Causing paralysis on the opponent and making them unable to do certain actions.

Marble Phantasm

Marble Phantasm (sometimes referred as “Imagination Realization”) is an exclusive ability inherent to elementals like the True Ancestors due to being the planet's sense of touch. It allows them to impose their will onto the world’s nature and therefore transfigure, terraform and manifest the surrounding environment into anything they imagine into reality by altering the natural probability of events; making reality an illusion as even the non-material and impossible can be willed into existence. To quote Arcueid herself: “There is no world I cannot make.”

While it cannot transform beings separated from nature like humans, that doesn't mean that Arcueid can't use it to deliver the hammer of nature on some poor schmuck. In combat, Marble Phantasm is a versatile tool that gives Arcueid dominion over the environment: she can freeze the air solid, turn the atmosphere into a vacuum that slices you to pieces, summon thousands of chains to bind her opponents or shield herself, apply Marble Phantasm to herself to grow much larger in size to the point of completely eclipsing the earth or summoning a red blood moon from 1000 years into the future, a strategy which she used to revert him to his true form and interrupt his nature as a spiritual phenomenon that manifests from fears and anxieties. And her range is even more remarkable than this, as her other personality Archetype possesses enough control over Gaia to cause all sorts of world-ending disasters like stopping the earth’s axis to play pinball with the continents or melting all the ice in the South Pole.

Millenium Castle Brunestud

Originating as both the lair and piece of the Reality Marble of the Crimson Moon, the Millenium Castle Brunestud is an alien world in the form of a massive rusted castle on top of a mountain surrounded by the plains. While its original master may have died, being a copy that surpassed the rest of the Ancestors had its benefits as Arcueid could resurrect it with Marble Phantasm, this great feat served not just as a symbol of her Brunestud royalty but of an overwhelming power and purity similar to the Crimson Moon. Hence why she was granted the Brunestud title.

Similar to Reality Marbles, the Millenium Castle Brunestud also reflects the inner world inside one’s heart and mind. This “inner world” is an innate barrier that can be released and projected into the real world, transforming reality and temporarily switching the existing space with that of the user’s inner self while keeping the boundary the same. The existing space that then existed is then kept and stored away in a small container somewhere. So whenever Arcueid summons the Millenium Brunestud Castle any surrounding person caught within its area of effect is brought inside her inner world, and even humans can occasionally wander into it as this is technically a product of her marble phantasm. Like when Shiki was able to enter into Arcueid's dream by sleeping beside her.

In terms of functions: Although she typically uses the realm as a home and a way to rest and keep herself in chains, Arcueid can unleash her full might without any worry for collateral damage. The castle itself is also surrounded by thousands of chains around the environment that make getting inside quite the hard task, giving her quite a home field advantage as she can use and summon those same chains to restrain and stab her opponents.

Counter Force

Generated by the planet as a self-defense mechanism, the Counter Force is designed to protect humanity from beings or things that threaten to destroy it, though it sometimes chooses to prioritize the planet over humanity. Those who wield the Counter Force are able to directly pull energy from the planet, giving them the power to counter whatever is threatening it. Take for example Enkidu, his support from the Counter Force was able to clash evenly with the world-cutting slash from Enuma Eilish in his fight with Gilgamesh, preventing the planet from being destroyed as the energies of their clashes dispersed. Or when the world itself acted to erase Aoko Aozaki from unlocking the fifth magic to prevent universal armageddon by raining down lightning on her. Though it failed.

For Arcueid, her version of the Counter Force makes it so she is raised one class above whatever opposes her, ensuring she’ll always be slightly stronger and faster than them as it always keeps rising, letting her overwhelm her opponents in a matter of moments. This back-up manifests as a distortion on the ground that must be seen with abilities like Death Perception.

Avalon

The scabbard of King Arthur’s legendary blade Excalibur, Avalon is a Noble Phantasm, a powerful weapon or object associated with legendary mythical or historical figures.

Avalon is considered an “absolute defense” that surrounds its user and places their body in the Realm of the Fairies (a part of the Earth’s Inner Sea or soul), cutting them off from any physical damage and even reflecting damage from other Noble Phantasms. It is a defense on par with True Magic itself, capable of blocking just about everything -including the 5 Magics like Kaleidoscope, Heaven’s Feel, and Magic Blue- up to the “sixth dimension”. Whether it is a spatial dimension or not is a little uncertain at the moment. Additionally, Avalon is able to heal its users of their injuries barring destruction of the brain.

While Arcueid does not possess the scabbard itself, the reason Arcueid would get its abilities is because as the Earth’s Ultimate One and even the planet’s soul, she has control and authority of all its realities including those in the Planet’s Inner Sea where she explicitly enters and can use her Marble Phantasm in. One of these realities is Avalon, the reality the scabbard itself takes the user to. With her being able to manipulate the Land of the Faeries, it should be reasonable to assume she gets access to its abilities at bare minimum.

Movelist

You’re in the way!

Arcueid performs three consecutive claw attacks, releasing a powerful energy shockwave.

What are you doing…!

A combination of claw attacks that scratch up to several directions, from lower to upper.

Ready…. Go!

Arcueid dashes at blurring speeds to deliver an elbow strike, this can be alternatively followed by a tiger knee-like attack. The Arc Drive version has Arcueid follow the elbow strike by rushing to the opponent’s back and uppercutting them, she leaps, delivering a backfist that sends them further before slamming them back to the ground with a two-handed hammerfist.

Quiet!

Arcueid jumps to perform a rising claw attack.

It's Useless!

Arcueid jumps back to throw an energy shockwave from her claws.

Forsaken Wave

The same shockwave from before but directed at the ground.

Over Here!

With her blurring speed, Arcueid can speed around the battlefield to zoom around as much as she pleases. The Arc Drive variation has Arc lift the opponent by the neck and throw them to the wayside.

Marble Phantasm (Melty Blood)

(Say that again)

Arcueid summons forth chains from the Millennium Castle Brunestud to drown her opponents, before finishing them off with a powerful claw swipe. These chains are the manifestations of Arcueid’s desire to restrain herself, representing each of Arcueid’s own sins.

Shall we play around a bit?

Arcueid levitates backwards as she summons an image of her former princess self, raining down a pillar of light on her opponent that induces magic circuit break. Certain versions of this attack also have Arcueid summon blades of light to slice someone into eighteen pieces.

Red Arcueid specific moves

Alt Naegel

Unleashes blood colored waves that blows the opponent away.

Alte Schule

Shoots several ring shaped reppukens that travel across the ground, which she can also fire mid-air.

Heisses Wasser

Arcueid slashes the opponent with blood torrents from several directions.

Vorzeit echte Schule

Arcueid gives her opponents a little drop of really, really hot sauce by throwing an even bigger blood ring.

Vollmond

Casts a menacing glare from her Mystic Eyes that blows back her foe.

Weisses Katze

Warc rushes to claw through her opponent, Arc Drive is a command grab similar to the EX version of Over Here!

Karst Jaeger

Warc grabs her opponent by the face, before dragging them through a wall.

Rave Moerder

A berserker slash similar to Weisses Katze.

Blut Die Schwester

Warc takes things up a notch and pulls a Majora, as she materializes a mirror image of the moon with incredible mass from 1000 years into the future to crush her opponents. When used on the moon, this attack can induce six times gravity or conceptually debuff an opponent to 1/6th of their strength.

Gnadentoss

Executed by successfully parrying with EX-Shield, Arcueid surrounds herself in a stream of chains to overwhelm her opponent before sending out a big focused wave of energy as she laughs maniacally at their futile attempts.

Archetype: Earth specific moves

Light

Archetype sends out explosive spheres of light to keep her opponents at a distance.

Wave

Summons waves of energy that emerge from the earth at command.

Bird

Archetype surrounds herself in light as she begins spinning.

Sky(flight)

Archetype briefly levitates and hovers over the air.

Sigh

With an unenthusiastic gest, Archetype erects an even bigger pillar of light from below.

Alt Nagel

Creates brief lasting whirlwinds in the air, if she so chooses to she can make them expand to attack. Her Arc Drive has her create a large hurricane that can reach the very heavens themselves.

Comet

Rushes forward fast enough to leave afterimages and elbows the opponent, then does two follow-up attacks that carry them higher before slamming them back to the ground with an overhead punch.

Hime Kick

Kicks the opponent with so much force they bounce across the stage.

Memory

Telekinetically pulls the opponent into the air, turns giant, and fires a massive blast at point-blank range.

The End

Archetype seals her opponent within a tiny spherical prison, embracing them before they’re blown up by a massive supernova.

Forms

Morrigan

Fused

By merging with Lilith, Morrigan gains a great boost in power. In this state, Morrigan is powerful enough to perform a massive energy blast. This is the same energy blast Morrigan used to deal massive amounts of damage to Jedah’s Fetus.

Darkstalkers 1 sprite

Why don’t you take a picture Parker? it’ll last longer.

Arcueid

Red Arcueid

Also called Warc or Berserk Arcueid, this is more akin to a mental state brought about whenever Arcueid stops restraining her vampiric impulses and attains the status of a Demon Lord. A berserk state where an Ancestor no longer holds back and they lose their ability to reason, becoming a mad beast that sucks blood and kills indiscriminately. Naturally this gives Arcueid greater strength, speed and an impressive nail growth to put Yoshikage Kira to shame (Jesus Christ look at the length of those things), as well as other vamp abilities she hesitated on previously using like bloodsucking.

As far as the original timeline is concerned Arcueid has never naturally managed to fully reach this state due to her restraining her impulses, and most of the form’s appearances are a fake copy created by the Tatari, making this more of a “hypothetical” state more than anything that Arcueid prefers not to enter into. Despite this, however, Arcueid has been dangerously close to entering into it a few times. In the past whenever her power was low, merely just seeing blood put her into a rampage, and should someone really get on her bad side, she won’t hesitate to let her restraints go.

Archetype:Earth

Also known as True Ancestor Arcueid, Princess Arcueid and sometimes even just outright called the Crimson Moon due to her appearance, powers and thoughts. A common misconception behind Archetype:Earth is that she’s another personality of Arcueid when this is not the case: she’s still the same Arcueid Brunestud, but she now exhibits the principle of conduct of Crimson Moon Brunestud (aka, TYPE:MOON) and is also in her true form as the purest True Ancestor. In this form, she gets all the power she has lost before Roa came into her life and the long hair she lost due to her fight with her older sister, Altrouge Brunestud.

Initially, this version of her is seen in a dream world inside of Arcueid in Kagetsu Tohya, revealing that Archetype:Earth is also a piece of the Crimson Moon’s will in Arcueid’s subconscious manifesting as another facet of her in hopes of being accepted and thus completing Crimson Moon’s rebirth. She appears in Melty Blood Actress Again, where Archetype:Earth makes her full-on debut, taking over Arcueid’s body to experience the world of man until she decides to destroy it and is stopped by Arcueid herself.

In this form, Arcueid also becomes the Archetype of the Earth itself, acting as not only the Earth’s brain but also the mouthpiece of the world itself. Consequently, she has complete unrestrained authority over the planet and all its realities in addition to that of the Moon and its realities. She also becomes a kind of pseudo-god given her magical circuits “regress” to being of that nature, and she technically doesn’t even need her Marble Phantasm to manipulate nature, as she can generate, combine and control the chemical elements themselves to casually do battle with them. Other abilities she has include:

Scaling

Morrigan

Other Darkstalkers

Within the hierarchy of Darkstalker classes Morrigan sits in a spot that puts her above most of your average monsters and Darkhunters, all thanks to partly being an S Class Noble herself. And she has often proven herself fighting against some of the cast like Jon Talbain, Bishamon, Hsien-Ko and B.B Hood with her typically ending up victorious over her foes.

Huitzils

The Huitzils were originally a mass produced unit of robots designated by Pyron to wipe out all life on the surface, then reprogrammed by the Mayans as a guardian to Central America. Many of the Darkstalkers like Jon Talbain or Felicia have consistently fodderized them in combat during Pyron’s invasion, including Morrigan and Demitri who have catched up to while fighting in mid-air and destroyed entire armies, even across different continuities. So reasonably any Darkstalker worth their salt, which is basically anyone, should be superior to most Huitzil units.

Street Fighters (UDON)

The Darkstalkers cast has actually met with the Street Fighter cast before….. In UDON. The two series have shared a setting in that specific continuity since Street Fighter Origins: Cammy, resulting in the Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers crossover comics where their respective cast fought with or alongside each other. Including Morrigan, who has fought and overpowered characters like Chun-Li or Akuma. Especially when we consider that she could manage to send the Fetus of God flying in her fused state when no other Street Fighter or Darkstalker previously could.

Pyron

As a being with a goal as vast as he is, Mr. Sunman here has proven himself to be quite a tough powerhouse among the Darkstalkers cast by conquering planets for millenia. Despite looking like the literal weakness of a vampire himself incarnated, Demitri Maximoff has managed to match Pyron and actually managed to consume him in-canon after he defeated himgaining enough power to return to his former A Class noble status after being demoted by Belial. Seeing as Morrigan has tussled with Demitri even after this event and is said to be an S-Class Noble at her peak. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say she compares to Pyron.

Jedah

Jedah is super terrifyingly impressive and used to be one of the former three high nobles of Makai, which made him an S class demon powerful enough to defeat lower ranked A+ Classes like Ozom. Years later after returning from death, he created the realm of Majigen in order to achieve his goal: infuse the Fetus of God with the souls of every living being, including the Darkstalkers, so that everyone becomes one. No war, no conflict, all would be peaceful in this new world.

Obviously, neither Morrigan nor Lilith liked the idea of being eaten by a big baby and they battled Jedah until he was defeated, undoing his realm and plan from existence. Something that is consistent across other continuities like the Tamashi no Mayoigo manga or Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers, where Morrigan and Lilith fused to to either damage or even outright killed his creation.

Arcueid

Miscellaneous Characters

Across multiple works Arcueid is referred to as the Ultimate One of the Earth, a title reserved for unquestionably the strongest and most supreme beings of their respective planet. Something that’s supported by how she’s stated to be the strongest being in her original setting across multiple occasions, which is backed up . So she would reasonably upscale every magus, every magician and literally everything that exists on Earth. And given the Earth cannot be destroyed by planet destroying attacks, she’d also upscale the creatures of other planets too. As such, she’d scale above:

Servants

During the events of her guest appearance in Fate/Extra Arcueid has fought one of three playable servants, though she lost, it is stated that if she were at full power the servants would stand no chance and also, being an Ultimate One means she’s leagues above every servant. A title that puts her way above every other living being on the planet. For this reason, Arcueid can scale above:

Gods, Divine Spirits and Divine Constructs

In Fate/Extra, Arcueid, even while being severely nerfed, is regarded as the only person capable of defeating the god Amaterasu, who's explicitly amped beyond her normal levels in the Moon Cell. True Ancestors are also considered a superior existence to the gods, so Arcueid should massively upscale their feats.

  • Tamamo’s true form, Amaterasu, has an existence comparable to the sun (Star level)
    •  Amaterasu can also destroy the Trichiliocosm, Buddhism’s conceptual universe (Multiverse level)

Daemons and True Daemons

Even while weakened, Arcueid is considered above the likes of Kiara in the world of Fate Extra, who at the time had become a True Daemon. Given Kiara is the strongest daemon seen so far in the verse, and Outer Gods are relative to True Demons, Arcueid would scale to their feats.

Ultimate Ones

In the short story Angel Notes, Ether Liners (also known as Knights) could fight back against the Ultimate Ones that invaded the earth on relatively even grounds even if they were being slowly overwhelmed, so they'd scale/down scale to the Ultimate Ones seen in the story. Despite this, no Ether Liner can even put a dent in the Millennium Castle Brunestud, which Arcueid and her father Crimson Moon are stated to have the power to destroy. As such, Arcueid and Crimson Moon should both upscale other Ultimate Ones by a lot.

Weaknesses

Morrigan

Unfortunately, it is…

Despite being worthy as the head of the Aensland Noble Family, Morrigan is not without her downsides. As a succubus, Morrigan needs to maintain stimulation and excitement since it is vital to her life force. If she is lacking these means of pleasure, Morrigan would die in two days due to not feeding on her means of living.

Also while Morrigan has good mind bending powers, a strong enough spirit or mind comparable or greater than her own can resist her manipulation. This would essentially render a major part of her abilities moot as she would have no choice but to engage foes physically. To be entirely fair, it is an area she has a lot of experience in, but it still means she can’t reliably use what could be a good ace in the hole.

Arcueid

Arcueid generally isn't operating at her absolute peak most of the time due to using a percentage of her power to hold back her bloodlust, greatly reducing not only her physical capabilities, but also her abilities. And her connection to Gaia can also be cut off to prevent her from being given an infinite supply of energy by something capable of overwriting Gaia or conceptual abilities that can target her connection.

Despite her many resistances due to her reactive evolution, Arcueid has no resistance to anything she has yet to experience, though this is limited to very few things in verse. She also doesn’t really resort to using her many abilities initially in a fight. Arcueid greatly prefers to fight hand to hand, and as such won't bust out the big guns at first. Which might be a bit of a disadvantage against opponents who like to play things smart or avoid her attacks with pure skill, as shown with Sion and Ciel.

Before the verdicts

Fetus of God

Perhaps the biggest argument in this series in more ways than one: during the events of the comic crossover Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers things get a bit more cosmic with Jedah’s plan. And this has led to many discussions as to who scales and many other kinds of higher-ends implications as to whether this feat is multiversal or not. In particular, a fused Morrigan was able to send it back and give Anita enough time to seal it.

First, let’s get into context and talk about Jedah and his plan: after making the Majigen and planning for some time he begins to talk about this overall idea about disrupting the balance of the cosmos with a new order and granting universal peace to the world as a whole. And when he means universal peace he means it quite literally: what if the world was one single universal soul? If we were all one being we would all be devoid of conflict or war or boundaries. That is the basis of Jedah’s plan, something that with the Fetus of God he would easily accomplish. Lilith, who allied herself with Jedah at the time also alluded to this idea through her union with Morrigan.

In order to accomplish this, he manipulates the respective casts of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers into fighting each other as a way to draw their positive and negative energies from them by using Gill as a focal point from the Makai. Of course, they come to this conclusion far too late as the fighters realize their energies are being drained and the Fetus of God is fully nourished: leading to its awakening. And this is where we get to the feat so buckle up: according to Jedah if the Fetus of God wasn’t stopped over time it would have grown in power after consuming everything in the human and demon realms, gaining enough power to break the barriers between both worlds and become one single universal soul. Pretty direct, right? I’d say as far as this feat goes it’s pretty blunt. So what’s the problem right? Well the details lie in the wording, the Fetus of God needed enough power in order to accomplish such a feat. This makes it seemingly questionable whether or not even a fused Morrigan would be able to scale the Fetus at full power, however I think there’s a solid basis to say she scales.

Unlike the rest of the cast who had their energy attacks absorbed and tried many other kinds of strategies against the Fetus, Morrigan and Lilith in their union were the only ones capable of harming it and overpowering this absorption. This is brought in relation to a statement from Belial’s predictions, where he saw many possible futures with his omniscience to show one consistent fact: Morrigan had the greatest power that would be seen in both the history of the demon and human realms by that point, and would forever remain unmatched by those around her. It’s part of the reason why he sealed her power in the first place, so that she would be ready to wield it and not destroy herself. Which implies that even if the Fetus of God had attained such a state, Fused Morrigan would have still been able to defeat it. So for purposes of this blog we’ll account for the possibility that Morrigan scales to this.

MFTL Darkstalkers

This has two arguments behind it: Huitzil’s Darkstalkers’ Revenge ending has a scene where it seemingly flies from Hellstorm to Earth, and the UDON comics has multiple Huitzils reaching Pyron after he traveled to Earth from the furthest reaches of the universe.

For the game ending, the crux of this argument comes from Pyron’s stage having the background of the planet Hellstorm, but according to guidebooks for the series, during the events of the game, Pyron is resting in the sea. We even see Pyron land in the sea on the in-game map, so this would mean the characters being on Hellstorm is a gameplay mechanic. Plus with there being a cut between the scenes in Huitzil’s ending, the timeframe would be guesswork.

It doesn’t help that there are official guidebooks stating Pyron spent 200,000 years flying at sublight speed or the speed of light, making it highly unlikely that Pyron‘s actually grabbing his opponent and dragging them to his home planet for the sake of a fight.

For UDON’s, people have debated the exact distance and timeframe since we don’t know the length of his trip. Sabrewulf vs Jon Talbain assumed the Huitzils were traveling across the galaxy, but from what’s shown in the comic, Pyron is already in close proximity to the moon when the Huitzils are flying to meet him. We even see that his presence is affecting the Arctic, so while the Huitzils aren’t traveling as far the galaxy, they are at least traveling close enough to reach the moon. With that in mind, that would give them a speed of 1.86% the speed of light, or Sub-Relativistic.

Other Darkstalkers arguments

Lightspeed Darkstalkers

Aside from the Pyron statements already listed, Jon Talbain has a win quote stating he can move fast enough to obtain lightspeed. At a glance this might seem like a localization thing, but it’s backed up by the kanji in the Japanese version where he says he will surpass light.

While this may seem hyperbolic, we see in the OVA and certain endings that Pyron has feats which would get to similar levels. Combine that with the guidebook statements, and it’s not really much of a stretch for higher class Darkstalkers to be lightspeed compared to the lower tiers.

Galaxy Busting Pyron

In the crossover game Capcom Fighting Evolution, Pyron has a win quote against Yun where he claims that if he went full power, he’d wipe out the galaxy. While it coming from a crossover game makes it questionable if the statement should be used, Capcom Fighting Evolution doesn’t have a story mode, so there’s nothing in it that could contradict the main canon. And it’s not like Pyron’s any stranger to galaxy related statements considering his natural size has an orbital path of 400,000 lightyears, which is larger than the Milky Way.

Multiversal Fetus of God

As addressed in the Fetus of God section, Morrigan being comparable to the Fetus of God should be fine in our opinion. But there have been some different interpretations as to how much the Fetus of God would have affected, since it would have broken through all the dimensional barriers from all realms, though how many realms exactly is unknown. Some people have wildly interpreted it to be multiversal but we’re personally not too huge on this interpretation due to the lack of details.

The main basis of this argument comes from Belial. Remember him? Well, with his eye’s omniscience he was able to see all the future paths, choices, coincidences and consequences that would shape Morrigan’s life in the infinite threads of fate. So these should be infinite worlds, right? Well not exactly. Due to lack of details or specifications we can’t really know whether or not they are their own dimensional spaces. Not to mention, the dimensional barrier that the Fetus was going to destroy was merely the void between the human and demon realms(supported by the visualization of the Fetus devouring the human and demon worlds). Not any alternate timelines or alterations that would follow it.

So where would this feat really get? It’s pretty simple, accounting for the human world, the Makai and potentially the Majigen breaking the dimensional barriers that separate all three to merge them all would be about three times universal. Yeah, not as impressive but still pretty decent.

Full power Morrigan destroying Makai

Across multiple Darkstalkers games, books, and series, there are multiple statements describing Morrigan’s full power as being capable of destroying Makai. UDON’s Darkstalkers comic even dedicates an issue to showing a vision of a possible future where a fully powered Morrigan kills Demitri and wreaks havoc on Makai until her power eventually overwhelms her and she self-destructs. This vision motivates Belial to separate Morrigan’s power into Lilith in this continuity, sealing it away until she’s ready to take up the throne.

Naturally this leads to the question of whether or not Morrigan and Lilith still possess this power when they merge. And the answer honestly depends on the continuity.

In the games, Belial splits part of Morrigan’s power into Lilith and stores a different portion of her power into himself. But since Belial died, that part of her power died with him. Thus, in the main continuity, Morrigan and Lilith’s fusion wouldn’t be at 100% power.

UDON’s is different. There, Belial only split Morrigan and Lilith. Unlike in the games, he never took part of Morrigan’s power to the grave, evidenced by how his dying wish is that Morrigan should “be made whole again.” This would mean that UDON Morrigan should be capable of replicating the Makai destruction.

Moon Cell Electric Boogaloo

We won't lie, by now we assume most who are reading this are already familiar with the Moon Cell arguments, given it's a big highlight as far as TYPE-MOON scaling goes and there's already many TYPE-MOON blogs floating around that go over it. In light of recent arguments that have been going around about the verse, we figured we'd try and tackle the Moon Cell again with a new perspective, and after a lot of discussion… Yeah, we noticed a lot of things that have shifted our opinions quite a bit, so… let's run this back.

For those who don't know, the Moon Cell is essentially a “virtual reality/cyberworld” within the Moon of the Fate/Extra verse, and this has led many to argue to what extent you can scale feats from this entry on the possibility of the Moon Cell being “just a computer” and “fake.” However, we’re already told the reality of the Moon Cell -SE.RA.PH- is seemingly “more real” than the real world it represents in the very introduction of the first game.

It was also considered the “most real” virtual world by a student who'd said he'd traveled to many virtual worlds.

BB, a major antagonist of Fate CCC, merges with the Moon Cell and uses its power to even affect the Earth and even determine its future.

^ In case anyone wants further context.

The Moon Cell also gets equated to the “real” Moon for extra support in Fate/Extra’s side material.

“An observer of everything on our planet.” Now why is this relevant? Well, a similar statement was made waaaay back in the Kagetsu Tohya VN about the moon.

TL:DR the Moon Cell is absolutely real and scalable. We are not sure how that's contested all these years later because Extra’s plot and Kagetsu Tohya all indicate otherwise about it.

Now, moving on to the more controversial aspect of the Moon Cell: what exactly is its AP? Universal? Multiversal? Infinite Multiversal? 8D??? Well, the game gives us a direct statement for that, aaaaaaaand…

“Magicians(Wizards) who reach the moon compete against each other, and the last one standing is invited to the Moon's center and given the right to use it.

 This is the Holy Grail.

An all-purpose(万能) calculator/computer(計算機) with a calculation scale (Power Source) equivalent to a single solar system.”

Here is the recent fan translation’s version:

Yeah, it’s equated to having the AP of a single solar system. Even now, we admit it's weird. One would think with the Moon Cell's capabilities of “simulating and recording infinite possibilities” and “higher dimensional” statements that its AP would be higher. Buuuut… well this is what they give us. Now, you can maybe argue the Moon Cell having a higher AP than what this says for various reasons we're about to go over. But we want to be clear in saying this is a YMMV argument that depends on your own scaling standards and how willing you are to ignore statements like this.

The Moon Cell has some areas in it that would suggest its AP is far above solar system when looking at what all it can hold within itself. At the beginning of Fate CCC, Hakuno barely manages to escape from BB and falls into a realm that extends for “millions of light years.”

In this same realm, when meeting their Servant of choice, you can see what appears to be a galaxy in the background.

Much later in the game, BB seals Hakuno within an area of the Moon Cell called the Imaginary Number Space, which was stated to continue infinitely, and the only way Hakuno could escape was via the concept of an exit being created. We recommend seeing the video here since a handful of images wouldn't cover this (watch from 8:39-18:06).

There is also a statement that says distance between the seventh layer of the Moon Cell and its core is “literally infinite.”

The Core is even stated to be its own conceptual universe with millions of light years worth of light.

Between all these, you could potentially argue the Moon Cell having the AP equivalent to several universes (3 universes specifically) or still Multiverse level+ based on what was said about “simulating infinite parallel worlds” and if you believe it correlates to AP. You could even use how the Core would take BB apart even after merging with the Far Side of the Moon if it discovered her tomfoolery for consistency for the Moon Cell’s AP being higher depending on how high you have BB for having merged with the Far Side of the Moon.

Again, YMMV on which end is more legit between Solar System, Low Multiverse, and Multiverse+. We've discussed this amongst ourselves quite a bit and still even disagree on a few things, so we figured we'd cover the arguments for all sides and let you decide for yourselves what you'd buy here for the Moon Cell’s AP.

Also, you may have noticed some of these arguments sound familiar, in which case… it’s because they come from the last blog involving a Tsukihime character, Terumi vs Roa (which you should read btw). While some of our thoughts on a few aspects of the Moon Cell have changed since then from picking up on things we didn’t pick up on before, we fully believe all of the arguments about why it's real and the size of general areas still hold up pretty well so no reason not to pull from it.

We should mention that this section is most important for feats involving the Moon Cell’s AP and not super relevant for those that affect and destroy its size and core parts (i.e. Tamamo punching its core, Arcueid turning the entire Moon Cell into its Reality Marble, and BB merging with the Far Side of the Moon) since it definitely contains everything previously stated before.

Now we’re sure some are prolly thinking “but…8D Moon Cell…” since that was an argument for such a long time which the only thing we’ll say in response to that is…

Ok, very edgy jokes aside… In all seriousness and with utmost sincerity, we simply chose to not include those arguments because we didn’t feel like it was necessary to bring up personal disagreements from some of us regarding 8D AP aside. Nothing more to it.

Human Order Reality

This is another very important section given this is a very relevant part for many feats described here. It is the reality of the Human Order. The reason this is so relevant is because, of course, there are feats involving affecting this reality of the Earth. But many of you may not have heard this terminology before (probably anyway). For those that do not know, this is essentially Alaya’s guiding principle, humanity’s part of the Counter Force. This is what essentially guides the world to manage what is essentially the reality humanity lives in on Earth: the Foundation of Humanity.

And what exactly is this Foundation of Humanity? Well, if we go by what the very first entry that explicitly introduces it says, it is essentially a collection of parallel worlds. It’s a tree where humanity’s countless possibilities (aka, parallel worlds) branch out endlessly. What the Human Order does is make the World establish which parallel worlds should constitute this tree’s trunk and which ‘branches’ should be pruned (by determining if each world is still ‘parallel’ to the main trunk). The Human Order does this to ensure humanity can last as long as it possibly can as it is humanity’s desire to keep living.

By everything established above, it is reasonable to think that the Foundation of Humanity is a multiverse of sorts. And you’d be right, since even different Nasuverse entries do call this tree a multiverse explicitly. The following is a straightforward conclusion for feats involving affecting/destroying this reality to draw: they’d be some degree of Multiverse level, possibly even Multiverse level+ given this human history tree is stated to be infinite! Well… it’s… not that simple.

One of the things that has brought upon some discussion amongst ourselves is how truly big this Human Order multiverse is. Because the same game that introduced this reality also says the following:

Yeah… This is kind of odd. You would think that a multiverse collapsing under its own weight would destroy more than just our Solar System, but here we are with this statement. This does put into question how big this seeming pocket multiverse really is. So… This is really really weird. And if this information is prioritised and taken at face value, it would kneecap a bunch of feats of affecting the Human Order to just being vaguely Solar System level to Multi-Solar System level maybe. Once again, really weird.

Should it be prioritised and taken at face value? Not necessarily. Why? Well, Fate/Grand Order, the next game that explores this concept more -specifically with the Lostbelts- displays showings that indicate that these parallel worlds are definitely larger than solar systems, especially the Atlantic Lostbelt’s story and the “South American” Lostbelt with Daybit’s powers and Animusphere’s plans. The reason Lostbelts are so relevant here for helping with the Human Order multiverse’s size is because these are the same pruned parallel worlds that branch from the same “trunk” I mentioned above. Meaning if these Lostbelts are a certain size, the other parallel worlds that constitute the trunk and remain growing with possibilities would be roughly the same size.

Additionally, in Fate/Extra CCC, Gilgamesh’s Servant ending shows him and Hakuno having flown to another planet which is not only implied to be in the same dimension as our Solar System due to lack of implied dimensional travel but was also 1,500 light years away from Earth. And remember, this route in CCC happens in its own parallel world. So the only way to accommodate this information with the Solar System collapse statements is if the statement is referring to the actual one -which would be unquantifiably more impressive for reasons outlined in the next section- and not the one humanity resides in (aka the one in the Human Order reality) in addition to texture lore being at play, even though this is never explicitly made clear in the passage.

YMMV when it comes to determining which side of the statements is more reliable, but this section is to cover all bases and represent the discussion we have had about this with its conclusions.

Celestial Body Feats and Scaling

If you've gotten this far, you'll notice that we didn't exactly put in as many “Universe level” or “Multiverse level” feats in Arcueid’s scaling sections, and that goes back to what's probably the second most popular argument for the Nasuverse being some degree of cosmic level, second only to the Moon Cell: statements about the “World being destroyed.” As it was already addressed in the previous section regarding the Human Order, the Earth is made up of a bunch of realities. Not referring to parallel timelines in this case, but think of them like the layers of an onion (thanks for the example T0m). For a long time, most interpreted these statements to mean someone could destroy all the realities making up the Earth, and weeeeeell… Yeah, there's no reason to assume this without anything to suggest it. Gilgamesh’s Enuma Elish has a direct statement in the Strange Fake novel that it can affect the entire human universe, along with a visual from the anime to show that it goes beyond its planetary destruction statements. But even then, it's only affecting that one reality, not all the realities of the earth.

This actually goes back to another thing regarding scaling, that being Avalon. We didn't exactly use DT Nasu arguments here. But even then, almost no one, or even literally no one should really scale to Avalon. We're told many times that nothing can affect it as far back as Fate/Stay Night even. That even goes to the True Magics, which are just considered above Magecraft entirely, meaning the likes of magicians such as Zelretch and Aoko can't do it either, and they're both among some of the most powerful characters in the verse.

So even if Avalon truly is “6D” or wherever you have it, no one in verse scales to it. Doesn't help there's no explicit statement ever saying it was affected during any “world destroying” statements. Assuming otherwise is massively contradictory to the in verse scaling. The only possible exceptions to this are ORT (if you think it’s far above True Magic), given it was gonna destroy Chaldeas -an exact copy of the Earth down to its very soul- and possibly Archetype:Earth if you think she’s stronger or even just comparable to it. But not anyone else.

With that out of the way, another thing we wanted to address is the whole “planets in the Nasuverse aren't like our IRL” arguments. This is true, since all the celestial bodies are “alive” and have a consciousness (the story of Angel Notes wouldn't be possible otherwise). But something important to say here is: not all the celestial bodies are multiverses. Only the Earth and Moon have anything to suggest this. For the Moon, we know it's identical to the Moon Cell, which wasn't even cosmic in scale at first until it studied the Earth and copied it.

And the Earth…well, see the Human Order section. Speaks for itself. This here is from Tsuki Re material, but it clarifies that the Earth possesses alternate timelines specifically because of the 2nd Magic existing and making it aware of them.

Essentially, Earth will always live as long as even a single timeline exists in which it doesn't die. And for anyone who's familiar with the verse, you're likely already aware there's no reason to assume other planets have anything similar to the 2nd Magic without anything to suggest it, meaning they don’t have to be multiversal in scale.

Now, planets like Venus by virtue of being alive and possessing souls should have their own Inner Sea equivalents too (given the Inner Sea of the Earth is literally where it belongs). But we do not know how large they’d be due to lack of details & exploration. That's also why we didn't label Amaterasu being compared to the Sun as “Universal” or “Multiversal”, because we don't know how big the Sun actually is. Well, that and Amaterasu isn't even the goddess of the “True Sun” outside of Earth's reality, but is the goddess of the Sun within it.

And to further this, we're told the physical laws of planets change depending on the life that's active on the surface.

Of course, we don't know about the physical laws of planets outside of the Earth and Moon. For all the reasons above, statements about the Earth being destroyed should be analyzed on a case by case basis. Could vary from just destroying the Earth in a single reality and not necessarily the “universe/texture” it's in, to potentially destroying an entire “universe/texture” as well.

Verdict

Stats

Starting off the verdict of this blog, we shall look at the stats for both of these princesses starting off by comparing direct feats from all their aspects and then the scaling they’d get from scaling and other implications. So without further ado, let us begin!

Strength & Durability

On Morrigan’s side of things, we shall use feats she herself performs and Lilith too given she’s a part of her literally. And on their end, we have Morrigan & Lilith consistently causing large explosions, destroying massive parts of buildings, chucking Huitzil that weighs tons, and even withstanding castle destroying explosions. This is all impressive in its own right, but Arcueid on the other hand can replicate similar feats of destroying massive parts of buildings even at her weakest point especially when fighting Roa and Ciel. In stronger states, like during her days as the True Ancestors’ Demon Lord slaying weapon, she casually destroys a massive chunk of an entire city with results yielding up to 24 megatons of TNT. Even at her normal power level of 30%, she can re-create the Moon and drop it on her enemies with results yielding at minimum 40 yottatons of TNT. And lastly she can casually conjure up supernovae as Archetype:Earth, meaning she can reach up to Solar System levels of power via shown direct feats. As one can see, the image painted by what was said above is that of a pretty big AP stomp in the vampire’s favor for direct feats. Could this image be changed with scaling to each of their verses’ other characters? Let’s find out…

So, unsurprisingly both would be far stronger than what they have been shown as. By how much? Well, on the lower ends scaling, Morrigan would certainly upscale the lower-mid class Darkstalkers and even the UDON Street Fighter characters, and Arcueid would also upscale maguses and Servants. So, how do both compare? Well, for the people Morrigan scales to, we have Anakaris sinking his entire country under sand which gets between 6.36 megatons to 316.15 megatons of TNT; we also have Juri Han absorbing enough energy to destroy a mountain and the Psycho Drive destroying Easter Island yielding 158.6 megatons to 4.25 gigatons of TNT. All impressive feats in their own right once again, but even lesser feats from Servants and even novice magus match and exceed these values, with a 16 year old Aoko Aozaki breaking a stalactite yielding 32.25 megatons to 547.165 megatons of TNT, Heracles innately having the power to destroy mountains and even Ruler Jeanne withstanding Spartacus’ Crying Warmonger 24 gigatons to 54 gigatons of TNT. The gap in power seems smaller now… until one remembers that Servants can do other feats like creating black holes, replace humanity’s Earth with Paradise and even sustain Reality Marbles with a Sun inside of it. And given Arcueid is above all Servants, she’d still be holding on to the AP/Durability advantage comfortably.

This trend continues on with the higher ends of scaling with comparisons between Pyron, Jedah and Fetus of God for Morrigan vs. True Daemons, Divine Spirits and even Ultimate Ones for Arcueid. Pyron’s sheer size being that of a galaxy and him pulling planets into him is absurdly impressive and blatantly cosmic, but Daemons & True Daemons like Kanata destroying planets and stars effortlessly, Kiara… jerking herself off with the Earth, and Ookumaneko creating a galaxy-sized Universe match that, with Outer God Terminals like Van Gogh being capable of consuming even the human universe then exceeding Pyron’s paygrade. Jedah creating Majigen, a self-contained universe, is also an impressive cosmic feat, but the Divine Construct Akhilleus Kosmos can also do that in addition to Vasavi Shakti destroying it - never mind how BB herself merged with the Far Side of the Moon and Ea can compress the human universe too which can put them up to 1443.1858x Universe level and 20138x Universe level, respectively.

And lastly, while the Fetus of God being able to destroy the dimensional barriers and merging the human world, Makai and Majigen together is a blatantly strong feat (3x Universe level as a roof), Crimson Moon Brunestud could re-create the Moon in his fight against Zelretch. As discussed in the BtVs, the Moon is a multiverse, containing at the absolute very least 3 universes all the way up to infinite universes inside of it. And Crimson Moon being this strong is consistent with Arcueid herself being stated to be able to make the entire Moon Cell her Reality Marble.

As one can see, Arcueid is just the easier of the 2 justifying being significantly stronger. And even if you assume a stance where both Morrigan and Arcueid are equal in AP & durability or the former is stronger from not buying any of the Multiverse level ends and cap her at 1-3x Universe level, Arcueid has her Gaia amp that is infinite and will always make her stronger than her opponent. So, with all of this in mind, the Moon Princess takes Strength and Durability pretty easily.

Speed

Now we shall cover speed in a similar fashion to how Strength and Durability were tackled. Morrigan and Lilith themselves have feats like travelling from England to New Orleans which gets to Mach 73 and they can also block Donovan’s lightning for some consistency. It might seem like the lightning is one-frame, but they can still block it just fine and move in-tandem meaning the feat is still valid. Arcueid on the other hand has a direct feat of blocking Roa’s lightning clocking in at Mach 2034. She can even move in-tandem and block Mech-Hisui’s optic lasers. So, based on direct feats, it seems Arcueid once again has the upper hand in combat speed but not flight speed mostly due to lack of feats of that nature.

With scaling, things don’t get any better for the succubus, since most of the characters she scales to, even those that approach her status and are faster than her, have feats that are in the relativistic ranges with Pyron and the Huitzil, and just making it to lightspeed with Jon Talbain. All certainly impressive, but even Arcueid in her own series has people like Shiki Tohno moving at speeds significantly faster than light at around 40 c, and even lesser characters like Servant Gawain can react at speeds faster than light too.

And this isn’t taking into account the other high-ends that are deep into Massively FTL+ and even Infinite speed. And as Archetype:Earth, Arcueid even takes the flight/travel speed advantage from Morrigan given she’d logically be able to fly at speeds comparable to TYPE:PLUTO who could fly from Pluto to Earth at Mach 550, 7.53x faster than the England to New Orleans feat.

So with all of this appraised, the Moon Princess also comfortably takes Speed as well. And with her taking the 3 relevant stat categories, the conclusion is that the Arcueid comfortably takes the stats category.

Tertiaries

Experience and Skill

Right off the bat, it is a shoe-in for Morrigan that she takes skill out of the two: she simply has feats of explicitly contesting with martial artists both in Canon (vs. Jon Talbain and others comparable to him) and in UDON (Necalli and Chun-Li). And while Arcueid is far from being an unskilled strength merchant given she can fight those that can keep up with Miyako Arima who knows Baji-Quan, it is pretty clear that she typically relies on her strength and her abilities rather than sheer combat prowess. And Morrigan herself fights martial artists more consistently than Arcueid.

Experience on the other hand is a very interesting category to discuss here: both have repeatedly fought monster hunters, also fought “that same foe” for centuries and have fought plenty of other supernatural foes of all kinds. Most curiously, both have experience with each others’ kinds: Morrigan has fought and defeated vampires like Demitri, and Arcueid has fought succubi like Len & White Len and even shapeshifters like Nrvnqsr Chaos - though in her case while she did beat them, she also lost to them. So this seems like a very even category at a first glance. And we know what you’ll be thinking: isn’t Arcueid over 2x older than Morrigan? Shouldn’t that mean she should be more experienced? Well, you’re right to think that.

Unfortunately, it’s… not that simple. Remember that she has spent a good chunk of those 800 years asleep and an unknown amount of them waking up, researching and adapting to the ages, tracking down Roa and killing him, often taking up requests from the Church, and then going back to sleep for a long time. This was repeated 18 times over the course of 800 years, meaning the chances of her active years with experience are much smaller than her actual age. Archetype:Earth does not help with experience either since Melty Blood Actress Again makes it explicitly clear that it’s that version of Arcueid’s first time fighting.

On the other hand, Morrigan has experience in participating in large-scale conflicts that shook the Makai from a young age and has shown more blatant strategic thinking feats like against Demitri and the Huitzil - something Arcueid herself has been shown to lose to when not taking the battle seriously like against Sion. But to be fair to the Funny Vamp, she could still quickly adapt to the microscopic Etherlite - something that is far smaller than anything Morrigan had ever encountered. So they both have experiences that the other one does not have, further showcasing how close this category really is. Lastly, Arcueid herself easily picking up and dealing with TATARI’s existence means that she has the experience to deal with some of Morrigan’s trickery with her shapeshifting.

With how evenly matched both the succubus and the vampire seem with their overall experience, it would be most logical to call this subcategory a tie.

Intelligence

Intelligence is another interesting category to discuss given both aren’t geniuses explicitly: Morrigan is certainly more combat smart due to showing more strategic thinking on the fly than Arcueid does even if the latter also shows strategy. Additionally, in most material, Morrigan is depicted as a competent ruler of Makai even when she’s not taking these responsibilities seriously.

On the other hand, Arcueid is more knowledgeable on things like magecraft and their wide variety of applications, how rarities like the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception work, everything about vampires and their idiosyncrasies, and can even quickly pick up on abnormalities that not even Atlas geniuses can pick up as fast like the TATARI. And, well, when it comes to everyday life, she’s… ignorant but can still pick things up. Thankfully, Archetype:Earth actually helps Arcueid out this time in this category since AE herself says that she can understand and even manipulate chemical elements to create, combine and control them. This alone is a greater intelligence feat than either Morrigan and Base Arcueid themselves have ever displayed, and given Archetype:Earth is Arcueid at the end of the day, Arcueid takes Intelligence.

And with the succubus taking Skill, the vampire taking Intelligence and both being tied in experience, I think it’s fair to call tertiaries a draw.

Equipment

This category is by far the simplest one: just look back at the Equipment section for both and notice how only one actually has any. Morrigan takes it. She has a ring that can teleport her anywhere she wants, including to Makai, and can summon swords. She can’t use the swords that well, but it counts!

Powers

This is the final, and arguably just as an important category as statistics. Who has the better abilities? Who has the best counters? Who is best prepared to end the battle on a whim? Let us find out.

So starting off with Morrigan, we know that she relies on stimulation and excitement as vitality for her. We also know that her succubus body passively charms people, even dominating those with strong wills, to the point of controlling them with just a stare, and her saliva is essentially lethal to humans. She can also regenerate her body from being cut in half and is even implied to be able to live as long as her bats that she commands remain. She is also capable of shifting her shape, using her body parts into weapons and can manipulate the elements. Morrigan can also shoot projectiles from the ground and the air with her energy bats, even outright spamming it. Her mere aura causes humans to lose their will to fight by frightening them, and she can travel between dimensions. But most lethally, she can drain the life, memories, and soul of her targets.

Arcueid on the other hand has a resilient body with an antibody that can allow her to adapt to anything that she is constantly exposed to and can quickly learn about. Similarly to Morrigan, she’s got ways to mind control her target with her Mystic Eyes of Enchantment. She can also suck the life and corrupt the soul of the target via sucking their blood, even if this is out of character for her. Her own aura can also frighten, paralyse her targets outright, and even make them hallucinate. And she also has regeneration, although her regeneration is more based on a curse than relying on bats, and it’s potent enough to possibly allow her to regenerate even from having her entire body barring her feet obliterated. Heck, when the Moon is out, Arcueid outright does not have the concept of death, making her far harder to kill. She also has projectiles in the form of shockwaves as Arcueid and beads of light as Archetype:Earth. And lastly, sunlight does not bother her much if at all.

So, as one can see, they do share a lot of abilities in common like the ability to mind control people with a glance, kill people up to their souls by -ahem- putting their mouths on them, they possess reactive and adaptable bodies and they can both regenerate and can be hard to kill. But how do these abilities compare to one another? Whose abilities are more potent? Let’s start off with the easier comparisons and say that Arcueid’s regeneration and adaptability are probably more impressive given that she could regenerate from getting sliced by the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception in Ciel’s route after she had been “killed” by them when she first met Shiki. In addition, the fact that it’s based on time-manipulation makes it harder to work around in general. And also, Morrigan has been shown to sometimes not be able to regenerate from being decapitated, while Roa flat out says Arcueid can regenerate if just her head remained. Her adaptation is better too due to the fact that she has adapted to all existing magecraft except for Ancient Shinto weapons and South American treasures. Arcueid is definitely the harder one to kill given at night time she lacks a concept of death.

And lastly, Arcueid’s Marble Phantasm is better than Morrigan and Lilith’s Elemental Manipulation due to the former outright manipulating the fabric of reality. For harder comparisons: Their auras do seem to be roughly equal as they can effectively incapacitate their enemies and they can resist it themselves too. Their mind manipulation abilities are also likely equal and also resisted given that they can only mind control 1 person at a time each. And their projectile game for the most part seems to match, with the 2 combatants having screen covering and spammable options to keep one another at bay.

Now, what about abilities each one has that the other one does not have, like Morrigan’s life and soul absorption? Well, Arcueid would certainly resist these abilities since she’s stated to resist similar absorption of heat and even concepts from the target from Akiha’s origami hair along with just reasonably being able to resist Bounded Fields like Blood Fort Andromeda whose absorption can accomplish similarly powerful effects like draining people until none of their remains are left. Her resisting Sion’s Etherlite, which can control nerves or erase memories, also means that she’d be able to resist some of Morrigan’s other mind-screwing powers like putting her in a dream. And Arcueid herself resists all magecraft like Kabbalah, meaning Lilith’s Elemental Manipulation is resisted.

This seems to paint an image of Arcueid effectively resisting most of Morrigan’s abilities. We say most because while she doesn’t really have a solid answer to Morrigan’s duplications, her experience with the TATARI means she can comfortably adapt to them. And also, while Arcueid might have an answer to Morrigan’s forced teleportation to another dimension, it is admittedly not a concrete answer so to say due to how ambiguous this interaction is. See, while Arcueid herself has shown the ability to create portals, we are not sure if it’s because she has the innate ability to do so or if it’s because of her connection to Gaia and we do not know if such forced teleportation would cut off that connection or not. So, could there be a case where Arcueid is just BFRd to another dimension without a way back? Or would Arcueid just claw herself back to where she used to be? We simply do not know the answer to this question.

Now, moving on to Morrigan herself: how does she fare? Does she resist all of Arcueid’s abilities? Well, given she is shown to be capable of succumbing to Demitri’s bites, it’d be reasonable to say that if Arcueid bit her it’s game over. Fortunately for Morrigan, Arcueid is the self-proclaimed worst vampire. So she realistically wouldn’t have to worry about bloodsucking. What Morrigan WOULD have to worry about is the rest of Arcueid’s abilities that she doesn’t have effective answers to - like Marble Phantasm where she can legitimately destroy most of her target’s body by slicing them with a vacuum and warp reality in whatever way she fancies like summoning blizzards, hurricanes and thousands of chains, or conceptually debuff Morrigan’s statistics by 6 with Blut die Schwester repeatedly, or Archetype:Earth pushing the soul out of Morrigan whenever she pleases, something that she would be especially weak to given Belial has canonically done the same and would undo her fusion with Lilith. Notwithstanding other abilities from the Moon Cell that Morrigan couldn’t get past - like the ability to send the target to Imaginary Number Spaces where escape is impossible due to being a land governed by concepts and as such only being escapable by creating & erasing concepts, the ability to erase enemies from existence including their soul, the ability to make themselves invulnerable to all damage via rewriting the rules of reality, etc. And this isn’t even considering her having access to things like Avalon and the Counter Force of Gaia for her Gaia amp that will always make sure she’s stronger and faster than her and even more unkillable.

So, with a wide array of abilities the Funny Vamp has at her disposal that can end the battle on a whim and resisting most of Morrigan’s abilities, Arcueid decisively takes the Abilities category!

Conclusion

At the end of the day, no matter what angle one seems to take with regards to what was discussed above, Arcueid will always hold the stat advantages, either taking AP & durability by a little bit to up to an infinite degree, and also taking speed by a country mile no matter what. Arcueid’s Gaia amp makes it so even if you don’t buy anything higher than 1-3x Universe level and MFTL+-Infinite speed in ‘base’, she will still hold the stat advantage over Morrigan. And while the Princess of the Makai’s combat skills, experiences, duplications, projectiles, numbers advantage, and force teleportation will certainly keep the Moon Princess on her toes, Arcueid’s better intelligence, abilities, matching experience, and resistances will allow her to finish the job!

In the end, Morrigan was certainly a powerful succubus who could've defeated almost any other foe but against The Moon Princess, the Queen of the Night just couldn't resist the kiss of defeat, leaving her as the one stalking the dark of death.

The winner is Arcueid Brunestud.

  2. Great blog! I think there is a bit more to Makai though. Like Pyron in his Vampire Savior Japanese ending, talks about how it’s “A space that transcends time, with a law of energy different from the universe/cosmos” that, and the human world is referred to as the “lower world”, like in Morrigan’s Vampire Hunter Japanese end i g. So there is an argument to be made Morrigan could potentially even be beyond Universal.

Other than that, the research is crazy. Didn’t think I’d see the Darkstalkers Resurrection stuff here as well, good stuff!
